DAAN

Arjan studied law at the University of Groningen. In 2002, he started to work as a lawyer at Dirkzwager in Arnhem. In 2011, he was a co-founder of DAAN. Arjan has always worked as a specialist in the field of employment law and has gained broad experience in that respect, from commerce to healthcare, education and government, and from dismissal to employee participation. With this knowledge and helicopter view, Arjan is always able to provide his clients with practical and solution-oriented advice.

Barbara started her career as a lawyer at a small law firm in Winterswijk and continued at Poelmann van den Broek in Nijmegen from 2008. After having worked at Drijber & Partners Advocaten for more than eighteen months, she joined DAAN in October 2019.

Barbara specialises in corporate and insolvency law and is regularly appointed by the court as an insolvency practitioner. In addition, she is always happy to assist entrepreneurs, not only when their company is in trouble, but also with regard to other legal issues they face in their daily practice.

After completing his studies in notarial law at Leiden University, Bart started his career as a junior civil-law notary at Pels Rijcken & Droogleever Fortuijn in The Hague in 1998, after which he joined CMS Derks Star Busmann in Utrecht in 2002. In 2006, Bart subsequently went to work for Van der Stap Notarissen in Arnhem. Bart is a partner and co-founder of DAAN Advocatuur & Notariaat and was appointed as a civil-law notary in 2011. Bart specialises in (notarial) corporate law.

Caja is currently pursuing a master’s degree in civil law at Radboud University. She joined DAAN Advocatuur & Notariaat in November 2023. At DAAN, she happily supports her notarial colleagues.

Christine is, together with a small team of assistants, responsible for the day-to-day affairs of DAAN Advocatuur & Notariaat. Christine’s extensive experience in legal, administrative and organisational areas combined with a great sense of humour and a high level of involvement in office matters and clients ensures an optimal completion of all matters entrusted to DAAN.

Coen started to work as a lawyer in Nijmegen in 1989, shortly worked in the legal department of a bank, after which he again went to work for a law firm in Nijmegen in 1999. At that firm, he was a partner for 15 years and acted as managing partner for more than 6 years. Coen joined DAAN on 1 October 2017.

Coen specialises in corporate law and insolvency law. He is regularly appointed by the court to act as an insolvency practitioner . As a lawyer, he greatly enjoys helping his clients in finding solutions in cases of disappointing agreements. He is very experienced in the field of contract law and liability law. He greatly enjoys writing court documents.

David has learned at least three things from his two university studies, his career as a German teacher and his terms as a director of an association and foundation: an affinity with the law, an eye for detail and the deep conviction that everyone can share their passion as undisturbed as possible. That is why he takes care of the financial administration and various other administrative tasks at DAAN with dedication.

Hester has studied law in Groningen and in Kingston, Canada. After her studies, she worked as a lawyer at Loyens & Loeff in Amsterdam for 7 years. She then moved to the east of the Netherlands. She was one of the founders of DAAN.

Within the area of employment law, Hester advises and litigates in cases on reorganisations, (collective) redundancy, employment agreements, employment terms and conditions (including non-compete and non-solicitation clauses), employee participation and mergers and acquisitions. She also regularly assists shareholders and directors in employment law issues.

In addition, Hester also acts as a mediator. As a mediator she assists parties in resolving all kinds of conflicts, for instance between an employer and an employee or between shareholders.

After studying law at Utrecht University, Jan started working as a lawyer at Hekkelman advocaten & notarissen. Jan joined DAAN in 2012, where he worked as a lawyer and as an insolvency practitioner until May 2019. Jan is presently involved with DAAN as of counsel.

Jasmijn graduated from Radboud University in Nijmegen in 2019 and then started working as a legal assistant at the Gelderland District Court. After two years, Jasmijn made the switch to DAAN Advocatuur & Notariaat. There, Jasmijn focuses on employment law, the area of law in which she graduated.

Jill is currently studying at Radboud University, where she is pursuing the bachelor’s degree in Notarial Law. After her bachelor’s, she plans to pursue the master’s degree in Civil Law. Besides her studies, she works as a legal assistant in the bankruptcy section.

Kristel specialised in insolvency law and the financing & securities practice. Kristel started as a lawyer in Amsterdam in 2007. In her law practice, her focus was on assisting financiers (including major banks and leasing companies) in particularly Special Asset Management / Finance and Restructuring cases. In 2019, Kristel made a foray into the banking sector, where her focus was on advising the bank with regard to sustainable project financing. Since September 2023, Kristel has joined DAAN as a lawyer.

Kristel enjoys advising and litigating on (sustainable) financing structures, as well as assisting DAAN’s insolvency practitioners in legal proceedings. Her clients see her as very committed, constructive, thoughtful and sharp.

Kristel completed both the Grotius Financing & Securities and the Grotius Insolad Insolvency Law cum laude.

Lida worked in various industries as a receptionist/telephonist/secretary until 2013. She then entered the notarial profession and worked for almost 10 years at Notariskantoor Novia in Veenendaal as receptionist/secretary in the family law section. In 2023, Lida made the switch to DAAN Advocatuur en Notariaat, where she happily supports her colleagues at DAAN Notariaat.

Maida is an enthusiastic and passionate employment lawyer.

You can come to her for anything in the field of employment law, such as reorganisations, (collective) dismissals, settlement agreements, reintegration issues, terms and conditions of employment and more. Maida also advises and litigates in education law cases.

Her curiosity allows Maida to keep abreast of developments and she likes to go in-depth. Maida is driven, committed and open to clients, but always focused on her clients’ interests.

Besides employment law, Maida also deals with privacy in the workplace. In the workplace, privacy is an increasingly important issue for which employers are responsible and which everyone has to deal with every day.

Before joining DAAN, Maida worked as a lawyer from 2015 at a niche firm in Nijmegen that focuses exclusively on employment law.

Her years of knowledge and expertise within this area of law are a valuable addition to DAAN Advocatuur & Notariaat labour law section.

Maike has worked as a secretary at various law firms since 1993. From 1995 – 2000 she worked as a business class flight attendant for KLM. She subsequently went to work as a secretary at Hekkelman Advocaten & Notarissen, before joining DAAN at the beginning of 2015. Maike supports the team at DAAN as a facilities assistant/secretary.

After graduating in Utrecht in 2001, she started to work as a lawyer at Dirkzwager. There, she worked in the Liability, Claims and Insurance Department for 16 years, of which more than 5 years as a partner in the firm. At DAAN’s corporate department, Mascha advises in particular intermediaries, companies (own-risk bearers) and NDPB’s in the area of insurance law, procedural law, and corporate, professional, directors’ and officers’, product and government liabilities.

Maud studied notarial law at Radboud University in Nijmegen. While still at university, she started her career at Hoge van Gerven notaries in Nijmegen. After 18 years, the last five of which as a partner, she made the switch to DAAN Advocatuur en Notariaat, where she can devote herself for 100% to her favourite area of law: corporate law.

Mirre graduated cum laude from the Radboud University Nijmegen in December 2022. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Mirre studied abroad at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she learned about the American judicial system and American laws. Since March 2022 she has been working for DAAN Legal in bankruptcy law. Here she works together with the insolvency practitioners in various bankrupties.

Ruben graduated from Radboud University in August 2023. After a short period as a trainee at EIFFEL, he started as a legal assistant at DAAN Advocatuur & Notariaat in February 2024. At DAAN, he mainly focuses on employment law.

Rutger Sark (1965) has worked as a corporate lawyer for over 25 years. He started at Houthoff, Rotterdam. He then went to work at De Kempenaer Advocaten, where he was a partner in the firm from 2000. He joined DAAN in 2012.

Rutger is a much sought-after adviser for entrepreneurs. Strategically and analytically strong. He is a realistic negotiator with an eye for the underlying interests and a strong focus on the end result. Sympathetic, but sharp and decisive. He has a successful track record in supervising acquisition deals and resolving corporate disputes.

After having been seconded to various municipalities, Steffie Lenderink started as a legal secretary at Poelmann van den Broek in Nijmegen in 2005. In November 2017, Steffie made the switch to DAAN Advocaten & Notariaat, where she strengthens the secretarial team.

Wessel is currently studying at Radboud University, where he is taking the Master’s degree in Civil Law. Through the “Civil Law Masterclass”, Wessel completed an eight-week internship at DAAN from September to November. After his internship, he stayed on at DAAN to support the notarial section two days a week.

Wieke successively studied Dutch law in Nijmegen and Music Theatre at the conservatory in Arnhem, whereupon she returned to Nijmegen for a master’s degree in law. She started her job at DAAN in 2015, where she greatly enjoys her work as a paralegal for four days a week. She combines this with her work as a singer, music theatre teacher and theatre maker.

Wouter has worked at DAAN since its formation in 2011; before that, he worked at Nauta Dutilh in Rotterdam/Breda and at Dirkzwager Advocaten & Notarissen in Arnhem. His many years of experience as an administrator/insolvency practitioner enable him to properly support companies experiencing difficulties with his knowledge on financial issues, securities and, for example, directors’ and officers’ liability. His large network in the region makes that he is regarded as an expert on a great variety of legal matters by many entrepreneurs, accountants and tax consultants.

Xinrong is currently studying at Utrecht University, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in notarial law. In addition to her studies, she supports the notarial practice at DAAN for two days a week.
